Hold Your Hand

You tell me that
I need to start taking care of myself.
I’m not a mother,
Reel in how much I nurture.
My friends aren’t my responsibility,
They can make it through life on their own,
Find their own way.

Chorus:
So, I’m not gonna hold your hand.
I’m no longer your guide,
Stop thinking of me as your angel.
I don’t need all this drama
That you’re laying down at my feet.
It’s time to move on,
Don’t hold on to me like a child.

You think that you’re helping me,
But reality check
Is that you’re holding me back
And the words you say, the way you act
It’s all detrimental.
Grow up and find yourself,
Instead of telling me you’re jealous of my life.

Chorus

I’m not gonna hold your hand,
Don’t hold on to me like a child.
