My Hope Song

There’s a light in the distance
Telling me there’s hope.
What do I do without you by my side?
I sit and wait for you to come.
There’s tears in my eyes as I watch the sun
Set in the distance, purples and pinks painting the sky.

I ask myself,
What am I doing?
I had promised me,
I would never love again.
So I ask myself,
Why I’m feeling this way?

I put your baseball cap
On every time I go out,
It’s become kind of a habit,
That I can’t live without.
You are my heartsong,
So I’ll keep waiting—
You’re worth every minute,
Come home baby.

I was only just fifteen,
When I had my first real heartbreak.
Now I’m twenty and it’s you again,
But I won’t sacrifice my heart this time,
Not giving up on you whether live gives us turns
That cause tumult for us or provide our rush.

There’s a light in the distance
Telling me there’s hope.
You are my heartsong,
So I’ll keep waiting—
You’re worth every minute,
Come home baby.
Come home baby.
Come home.
