Wishing Time

There's a shooting star
In the night sky
I'm holding my breath
Is it wishing time?

Where do you go when your heart's been broken?
What is there to say when you've lost it all?
You opened up, the places you swore would stay hidden,
Became exposed and now it's all been poisoned.

Chorus:
I don't know what to do
Other than wishing on myself
Trust in myself and no one else.
Every lover lets you down,
No one will ever love me like I do,
Like I do.

I've been going at this
For way too long
Dreaming on dreams
That will never come true.

Where do you go when loving is your place in this world?
What is there to say when you've given it your all?
You tried to be strong, you've been pushed too hard, too long
Became a fighter and now all you see is the reflection of you, on your own.

Chorus

I don't know what to do
Other than wishing on myself
Trust in myself and no one else.
Every lover lets you down,
I deserve more than this, so much more
I need it.

Chorus

Every lover lets you down,
I deserve more than this, so much more,
That I do.

Heartache

I don’t want to be another heartache
You tell all the girls about—
The one’s you wanna get with
And let down.

I don’t wanna be that woman,
Another story,
Becoming your history,
Instead of you and me.

Chorus:
I wanna be the one you miss,
That you miss so bad.
I wanna be the one, you can’t live without,
And you wake up in fear that I’m gone.
But that’s just wishful thinking—
Thinking I was your number one.

You always said that I was different,
Finally wanted a chance
But then I turned around,
And got knocked flat on the ground.

With you all it ever took
Was a single word, just one look.
You tell every girl, you’re an open book
After all, you’ve always had me hooked.

Chorus

You walked away—
All I got was a text.
While the story you tell,
Is the heartache that I feel.

I breathe in and out,
Feel my heart clench—
Wait for it to dwindle,
You’re just another page of my past.

Chorus

Oh yeah, that’s just wishful thinking—
Thinking I was your number one.

Hold Your Hand

You tell me that
I need to start taking care of myself.
I’m not a mother,
Reel in how much I nurture.
My friends aren’t my responsibility,
They can make it through life on their own,
Find their own way.

Chorus:
So, I’m not gonna hold your hand.
I’m no longer your guide,
Stop thinking of me as your angel.
I don’t need all this drama
That you’re laying down at my feet.
It’s time to move on,
Don’t hold on to me like a child.

You think that you’re helping me,
But reality check
Is that you’re holding me back
And the words you say, the way you act
It’s all detrimental.
Grow up and find yourself,
Instead of telling me you’re jealous of my life.

Chorus

I’m not gonna hold your hand,
Don’t hold on to me like a child.

Friday Nights

It was homecoming weekend
You came for a visit
It was my freshmen year of college
And you kept your promise, from long ago
And kissed me for our first time…

Chorus:
And Friday nights were our special nights—
When we’d share our secrets
Open our hearts and the walls fell down
And you took me away just by being…

It was two in the morning,
My friends and I were driving the back roads
To Pennsylvania and back;
And you took me in to spend some time
And held me all through ‘til the next day…

Chorus

It was hot in the beginning of August,
You picked me up and we went to your place
You told me you loved me
And I loved you back;
And that night I gave you the rest of my innocence…

Chorus

Chorus

On Friday nights.
